    Even though they are referred to as Mercury dimes the bust is not that of Mercury. I’d rather not say anything much further on that note so that I don’t make people ruminate much about a rather obtuse concern but Mercury dimes are well famed in the numismatic world most notably for the 1916D specimens of any grade including G-4.

    Yes I have a Kenny half dollar from ‘67 that makes that sound. I think your dime and my half dollar still may be about 40% silver, not 90%.

    my oldest dime is an 1902 BARBER DIME!
