There are a multitude of reasons why folk collect coins. Many people collect coins just as a pastime and others who collect coins for their numismatic value or metal content. Either way collecting coins can be good fun rewarding for both. It is pleasant to know old coin values.
Many people will probably buy their coins from a local coin dealer. Your best deals can regularly be found online and at auctions sites. There are advantages to either purchasing from a local dealer or from purchasing on the internet.
One of the main benefits of picking up old coins from a dealer hereabouts is you get to physically inspect up close. One of the other advantages is that you are less likely to find a fake coin when buying locally. When dealing domestically the local coin dealer you can create a relationship and the dealer keep you informed of certain coins you’re looking for.
It may be a little more confusing buying coins online but after you have developed a relationship with an internet coin dealer or auction seller you’ll also establish a relationship of trust and a source you can go back to. Most auction sites rate their sellers and this way you will have a brilliant idea on who is best to buy from. When buying an item ensure you know the old coin values.
I am looking for a site that is advertising old coins for the former federation of Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and Nyasaland (Malawi) the two Southern African countries. Most famous of these is the 3 pence (or ‘tik’ or is it ‘tiki’) as it was commonly known in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe). This one comes in two types, both have three spears (or arrows if you wish) on one of their sides. Now the first has two long outside spears and one short one in the middle, the other and most sought after has two short spears outside and one long middle one. Their years range from 1905 to 1947. If there is a buyer outside there for these types or any other types for that matter, please get intouch with me on my e-mail provided because we are getting all sorts of statements concerning their values some of which are quite a fortune here in Zimbabwe. I have them.
